Olga Kovalenko
Domra-master from Odessa
Olga Kovalenko was born in 1989 in the small town of Ananyiv, where she went to music school at the age of six. At the age of 14, Olga went to Odessa to study domra at the Music College named K.F. Dankevich, from 2004-2008. From 2008 to 2013 she studied at «A.V. NEZHDANOVA ODESSA NATIONAL ACADEMY OF MUSIC», studied at the "Orchestra Faculty". She studied music art in the domra class, with the Honored Artist of Ukraine Valentina Kirichenko.
Aside her work as freelance musician, Olga has been working as a teacher at a music school in Odessa for 11 years, also worked as a musician in college folk orchestra. In Odessa.
Olga often performs at charity concerts for children from the Orphanage. In Odessa Olga was as a bass player in pop band. On March 8, she was forced to leave Odessa, because of the war that began on February 24 made life in Ukraine impossible.
Olga has been made a number of appreciated performances in Sweden as a solo artist and is regularly playing with the acordeonist Irina Serotyuk. They can be booked as a duo.
Olga is part of the asylum residency initiated and maintained by Musikcentrum Öst/Musikcentrum Väst under support from Postkodlotteriet, Stim and in close collaboration with SWAN (Swedish Artist Residencies Network) and Artists at Risk.
