VIDYA is a playful and strongly intuitive singer, pianist, composer and producer. She is inspired by the body and it's inner processes, sound, shape and colour. Her music often appears in her dreams...
Vidya is born in India and grew up in Sweden. Her music is a compelling blend of jazz pop world and improvisation. Vidya´s music invites to a space of freedom and a pulsating now! Her compositions stand out and showcases sincere beauty and strength, as she folds the melodies around herself like vocal origami
Vidya's first album Peace Play received great reviews in Swedish media. Her second album The Papillon released in 2022 , went on to achieve international acclaim, and was nominated for The Manifest prize in the Jazz category 2023.
In May 2024 she released her third album Adi Shakti on Naxos Prophone. It features the exceptionally creative musicians ECM recording guitarist Rob Luft, Magnus Bergström on bass, and Jon Fält from Bobo Stenson trio on drums. This resulting in a playful quartet whose dynamic synergy very much shines through both live and on the recording.
